    The Ruhuna International Conference on Innovation and Technology (RICT) 2023.


    The 1 st international conference organized by the Faculty of Technology, University of Ruhuna, RICIT 2023 was held successfully on 24 th November 2023, at the faculty premises. The theme of this year was “Technological Transformation: Navigating Innovations and Trends”. The conference's chief guest was Senior Professor Sujeewa Amarasena, Vice Chancellor of the University of Ruhuna. Prof. Morihiro Maeda from Okayama University's Graduate School of Environmental and Life Science in Japan delivered the keynote speech at the inauguration. Four technical sessions comprised the conference: Science and Agriculture; Engineering Technology; Computer Science; and Management and Entrepreneurship. By joining virtually, keynote speakers who were experts in their fields contributed to those technical sessions. Keynote speakers for the technical sessions on computer science, science and agriculture, and engineering technology were Prof. Ping Yu from the School of Computing and Information Technology, Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences, University of Wollongong, Australia; Prof. Ajith Karunarathne from the Department of Chemistry, Associate Professor in Chemical Biology and Molecular Pharmacology, and Institute for Drug and Biotherapeutic Innovation, Saint Louis University, USA; and Prof. M. Razi Nalim from Purdue University, USA, Associate Dean for Research, Mechanical and Energy Engineering, Purdue University, USA. Out of the more than 100 manuscripts that we received, 57 were accepted from ten different countries. We have the potential to host a product showcase concurrently with the conference, providing an opportunity for inventors. It was an opportunity for inventors that we could organize a product showcase in parallel to the conference.

    Dr.Palitha Kohona Former Ambassador to China '' visited UoR. He delivered a lecture on the topic of Sri Lanka, China and Region and he also met the business community in the evening and participated in a discussion on   "Place of Sri Lankan market in South East Asia".

    Annual Certificate Award Ceremony at CGU - 2023


    The Career Guidance Unit (CGU), University of Ruhuna successfully completed the certificate awarding ceremony on 09th October 2023. The event was graced by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ruhuna, Senior Professor, Sujeewa Amarasena, Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Saman Chandana Ediriweera, Professor Imendra Kotapola, Dean Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Dr. Chithral Abawaththa, Dean Faculty of Engineering, and Mr. Shanka Rajapaksha, Chairman/CEO Apps Technologies (Pvt) Ltd., Career Academic Counsellors, many other academics, and professionals of the University of Ruhuna and distinguished invitees.

    Professor Thusitha Gunawardana, Director, CGU accorded a ceremonial welcome remark to the honoured guests. Senior Professor Sujeewa Amarasena, Vice Chancellor of the University of Ruhuna, Chief Guest of the event addressed the gathering. Moreover, Mr. Shanka Rajapaksha, Chairman/CEO Apps Technologies (Pvt) Ltd., delivered a speech about the importance of soft skills in industry. Following the giveaway of certificates to the awardees the ceremony was concluded with a remarkable vote of thanks by Mrs. Pubudu Mallawarchchi, Career Counsellor an individual with an abundance of positive vibe and confidence to get things done perfectly with a great plan,

    No one will disagree that excellence is never an accident. It is the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, skillful execution and vision to see obstacles as opportunities. It was a proud moment for CGU to giveaway more than 925 awards and awardees highly celebrated the moment with the guest speech and addresses delivered by the eminent professionals. CGU honored the undergraduates who have completed the programs at CGU and grateful to giveaway certificates to the following programmes namely, Certificate in Soft Skills Development, Certificate in Event Management, Certificate in Photography, Certificate in Perfect Presenter, and Certificate in Rover Scouts.
