Signing of MoU with Kunming Institute of Zoology of Chinese Academy of Sciences

Kunming Institute of Zoology (KIZ) of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and University of Ruhuna (UoR) signed a MoU on academic cooperation, on February 13th 2015 at the University. The delegates led by Professor Ren Lai, Deputy Director of KIZ and In-charge of International Collaboration together with Dr. Min-Sheng Peng, Principle Instigator of the research project and Dr. Guo-Dong Wang, a member of the research team attended this event from KIZ. Representing both parties, Professor Gamina Senanayake, the Vice Chancellor and Professor Ren Lai signed the memorandum.

The cooperation mainly includes zoological studies, genetic resources and conservation, molecular evolution and genomic diversity. Also, both parties of the MoU will collaborate with relevant Sri Lankan authorities, such as Department of Wildlife Conservation, Department of Forest Conservation, Department of Animal Production and Health, and Department of Agriculture, Government institutions allied for a cause based on animal diversity of Sri Lanka.
