Mahendra Perera: An Introspection-2025

    Mahendra Perera, a distinguished actor in contemporary Sinhala cinema, was honored for his exceptional contributions to Sinhala cinema, stage drama, tele cinema, and television drama at an event on November 6, 2025, from 2:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Auditorium, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Ruhuna. The event was attended by Senior Professor P.A. Jayantha, Vice Chancellor of the University of Ruhuna; I.R. Priyantha, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; veteran actors Hemal Ranasinghe and Ashan Dias; and award-winning film director Prasanna Jayakody, among others. A commemorative felicitation volume titled "Mahendra Perera: An Introspection" was published by the Cultural Centre of the University of Ruhuna to mark the occasion.

    The retrospective's commemorative lecture, themed "Mahendra Perera’s Signature: The Transformation of the Actor’s Role into a Socio-political Force within Sri Lankan Performing Arts," was delivered by Chair Professor Jayantha Amarasinghe from the Department of Sinhala at the University of Ruhuna.
