Memorandum of Understanding Between the Colombo Stock Exchange and the University of Ruhuna

In a significant move aimed at promoting capital market education and financial literacy, the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) and the University of Ruhuna entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 19 th July 2023. The primary objective of this MoU is to equip students in Accounting and Finance departments with practical knowledge and skills relevant to the financial industry through various joint initiatives, programmes, and activities, such as Internship

training programmes, workshops, and guest lectures. This hands-on experience will enable them to develop investment strategies and a comprehensive understanding of the stock market, preparing them for future professional success. Moreover, the CSE will grant a gold medal at the general convocation each year to a student who has demonstrated outstanding academic

excellence in an accounting or finance-specializing area.

Further, to extend the impact of this MoU beyond the university, the University of Ruhuna and CSE are expected to promote financial literacy among the general public to uplift the level of financial literacy in the country through research and awareness programmes.
