“Advancing Health Equity through Research and Innovation”

    iRuFARS is a multidisciplinary symposium covering all fields of Allied Health Sciences which provide an opportunity for researchers around the world to share their research findings and innovative ideas with papers, practitioners, policymakers and implementers.

    The University of Ruhuna has implemented the Vice-Chancellor's Awards Scheme to recognize, appreciate, and honour the outstanding contributions and achievements of academic staff members and students in the fields of research, inventions, innovations, creative works, and international collaborations.

    Awards will be conferred under the following seven categories,

    1. The most Outstanding Scholar
    2. The most outstanding Young Researcher
    3. The most outstanding staff Inventor/ Innovator
    4. The most outstanding staff Inventor/ Innovator
    5. The highest Recipient of Grants
    6. The most Outstanding Promoter of International Relations
    7. UOR Tier 4 Star Award (awarded to academic and administrative staff members who have attained Tier 4* status (the highest tier) based on their research output at the Annual Academic Sessions and Vice-Chancellor’s Awards commencing from 2024).
    • Applications for the above awards will be accepted until 15th January 2026.
    • For Awards 1. 2, and 6, all the achievements up to 31st December of the year of the award will be considered.
    • For Award 4, all the achievements during the studentship up to 31st December of the year of the award will be considered.
    • For Awards 3, 5, and 6, achievements obtained 3 years before 31st December of the year of the award will be considered.

    Formal application forms for staff members are not provided. Applicants are required to submit self-prepared applications in accordance with the general guidelines and criteria outlined in the annexures.

    A formal application form is available on the University website for applicants seeking the title of Most Outstanding Student Inventor/Innovator.

    Applicants may provide any additional information relevant to the award category for which they are applying. All supporting documents substantiating the claims made in the application must be attached as appropriate.

    Each application must include the following signed declaration,

    "I declare that the information and particulars furnished above are true and accurate to the best of my knowledge and belief. I further declare that I have not included any claimed marks for any paper published in a fake or predatory journal according to my knowledge, and I accept the condition that my application will be assessed with no marks for such publications if it is

    revealed that any paper from a fake or predatory journal is included in the application".

     

    Applications must reach the Office of the Vice-Chancellor on or before 15th January 2026. Applications or supplementary documents submitted after the closing date will not be considered.

    Vice Chancellor’s Awards and Academic Sessions 2026

    The Vice Chancellor’s Awards and Academic Sessions 2026 will be held on 4th March 2026, at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna, Hapugala, Galle. This prestigious annual event brings together the entire community of the University of Ruhuna, encompassing Academic staff, Academic support staff, Administrative and Non-Academic personnel, as well as Postgraduate students, to share new ideas, highlight research achievements, and celebrate academic excellence across all disciplines.

    The Organizing Committee cordially invites all members of the community of the University of Ruhuna to contribute their original research by submitting abstracts along with extended abstracts, and to actively participate in this distinguished forum dedicated to scholarly dialogue and knowledge dissemination.

    All accepted abstract submissions will be published in the official proceedings, highlighting the University’s vibrant research culture and its dedication to innovation and academic excellence.

    International Symposium on Agriculture & Environment (ISAE) 2025


    Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ruhuna is organizing the International Symposium on Agriculture and Environment (ISAE 2025), which will be held on 2nd September 2025, The theme of ISAE 2025, “Driving Innovations in Agricultural Technologies for Climate Action and Sustainability”, encourages multidisciplinary stakeholders in Sri Lanka to explore the opportunities and challenges in global agriculture, sustainability, and the application of emerging technologies. The symposium aims to facilitate dialogue and collaboration among academics, researchers, industry professionals, and policymakers to foster innovative, practical, and systematic solutions that promote climate action and sustainable agricultural practices.
