    Project Assistant (On Assignment Basis)

    The China Sri Lanka Joint Centre for Education and Research (CSL CER), University of Ruhuna, is 

    inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals for the post of Project Assistant for a period of 

    one (01) year, commencing from September 2025. An extension may be considered based on 

    performance and availability of funds.

     

    Responsibilities

    The position is responsible for Assisting in the day-to-day operations and ongoing activities of the
    center, support in organizing meetings, workshops, and related research programs, assisting in managing
    and maintaining CSL CER’s two standard laboratories, including instruments and equipment, provide
    administrative support for research projects and research grant schemes, maintain and update the official
    CSL CER web page and social media, coordinate with administrative units of the University, support

    procurement and logistics processes as required.

     

    Qualifications

    Candidates should be less than 35 years of age as at closing date of applications. A strong academic
    background in Marine Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology or a related discipline is essential.
    Preference will be given to candidates with postgraduate qualifications and prior experience in research

    project management


    Remuneration

    Rs. 95,000.00 per month for B.Sc. Qualifications
    Rs. 110,000.00 per month for postgraduate qualifications

    Post : Temporary Assistant Lecturer in English (02 vacancies)

    Qualifications :

    Qualifications:

    1. A. (Hons) Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) with a First Class or Second Class (Upper or Lower Division) pass — candidates with this qualification will be given preference,

    or

    1. A. (Special) Degree in English with a First Class or Second Class (Upper or Lower Division) pass,

    or

    1. A. (General) Degree with English as a subject, and a Postgraduate Degree (preferably an M.A.) in a field related to English language teaching.

    Note:

    Candidates with postgraduate qualifications and prior teaching experience at university level will have an added advantage.

     

    Responsibilities :

    Responsibilities of the Temporary Assistant Lecture include conducting instruction, conducting continuous assessments, coordinating and conducting all enrichment activities organized by the ELTU.

     

    Period of the Assignment :

    The position is initially for one year period and can be extended maximum of further one year upon satisfactory performance.

    COORDINATOR FOR EXAMINATION AND REGISTRATION/ DCEU

     Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Coordinator for Registration and Examinations at the Distance and Continuing Education Unit (DCEU), University of Ruhuna, up to 28.07.2025.

    The post of Coordinator for Registration and Examinations is on a part-time basis and valid for a period of three (03) years.

    The appointment of the Coordinators of the Unit is to be made in conformity with the reforms introduced by the UGC as detailed in its Circular No. 932 on External Degrees and Extension Courses.

    1. Eligibility

    Persons holding the Senior Lecturer Gr. II and above are eligible to apply.

    She/ He shall work under the direction and guidance of the Director/ DCEU. The specific duties of the Coordinator are:

    She/ He has to bear the responsibilities of examination activities of the Degree, Diploma, Certificate level courses conducted under DCEU and student registration of new programs as well as ongoing programs.

    1. Period of Employment

    Part-time assignment and is valid for a period of three years

    1. Remuneration

    15% of the basic salary of her/ his substantive post will be paid as an allowance according to the UGC Commission Circular No. 01/2016 dated 01.01.2016.
