Hardware Training Program
Information Communication Technology( ICT) was introduced to the education system in 1994 by the Ministry of Education to Provide general awareness on ICT. According to the requirements of the system, it has been identified that the Ministry has to have a systematic planned methodology to implement ICT in the general education sector. This would lead with a view of enhancing the quality of education so that ICT literacy is treated equally to the general literacy .Because of this effort , the schools have received about 30000 computers by 2007.
However, it is realized that the maintenance mechanism is not rich enough to cater the problem occurs after the warranty period of these computers as well as the other related equipment and the network. In certain instances it was noticed that due to very small/simple faults, computers are idling without any involvement.
Therefore, the information and Communication Technology( ICT) Branch of the ministry of Education has made arrangements to implement a program for the maintenance of these equipments after their guarantee period. Therefore, to overcome this issue, the ICT branch has decided to establish a pool for hardware trainers in the education system and to make aware the teachers and students about these arrangements in order to seek the solutions.
