The Faculty of Agriculture launched a relief programme for Ranawiru families in the Kamburupitiya, Thihagoda and Kirinda divisions on 03.10.2000 under the patronage of Rev. Omare Kassape of Sapugoda Pirivena. A notable feature of this programme is the active participation of faculty students in conducting relief programmes among which offering educational scholarships, conducting skills development projects, medical camps etc. for Ranawiru families and providing financial assistance to purchase artificial limbs for the disabled soldiers have assumed particular importance. A fund has been established to support this meritorious task.
