CVCD Excellence Awards - 2006


Call for applications


The Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Directors (CVCD) is pleased announce its Excellence Awards Scheme that has been established in 2006 with a view to recognizing and honouring the outstanding contributions and accomplishments of the staff in the Universities. Initially, this scheme covers four spheres, namely research, innovation & invention, securing of grants and promotion of international relations. It will be expanded to include other important areas in future.

Under this Scheme, applications will be entertained from the permanent academic staff of all the universities in Sri Lanka by the CVCD up to 31 October, 2006 for the following Awards.

  1. The Most Outstanding Researcher
  2. The Most Outstanding Young Researcher (< 40 years on the closing date of applications)
  3. The Most Outstanding Inventor
  4. The Highest Grants Recipient
  5. The Most Outstanding Promoter of International Relations

The applicants should forward self-prepared applications in keeping with the general guidelines and criteria set out in the annex, along with a self-assessment, under registered cover to the following address. The award applied for should be indicated on the top left-hand corner of the envelope.

All applications should be forwarded through the official channels. Applications received after the closing date (31 October 2006) will not be entertained.

A Panel of Judges comprising past Vice-Chancellors, Emeritus Professors and/or Senior Professors appointed by the CVCD will evaluate the applications and submit their recommendation to the CVCD. The final selection will be made by the CVCD in the light of the recommendations made by the Panel of Judges. The decision of the CVCD will be final. The winners will receive a certificate, a trophy and a cash award.
